Time indeed flies. A swift blink and Say Yes is turning 1 year old. For a big celebration, we’ve invited Dystopian’s Don Williams who’s one of the most subversive artists of the Berlin techno scene. After joined this solid label in Berlin, he played alongside RØDHÅD, Recondite, Alex.Do such big names a lot for their label shows, also released some good productions there of course.
Marco Faraone, Deep House/
We obviously won’t go quiet on a birthday bash, but hold up the surprise just yet and let’s have a look back at the journey we’ve been through together so far. 16 venues in 10 cities, 30 more artists/ live acts that we booked and toured, 15 more true local talents, 6 China debuts and 6 China Tours, and got 1 Award – City Weekend Shanghai Readers’ Choice Awards: Winner of The outstanding promoters. It all started the first gig with the multi talented, multi labeled Francesco Tristano’s first ever live set in China at Jz Music’s very own well designed On Stage. Derrick May collaborated <Strings of life> lit the whole place up like it never had before. From there Say Yes just can’t be stopped, second guest we invited was the one of the all time legends, co founder of Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound, father of Dub Techno, the one and only Moritz von Oswald. With Arkham’s 4x4x4x4 crew Soma label’s Deepbass and one of Germany’s most wicked minds Barnt from Kompakt.
Say Yes has also worked with the long standing venue, land mark of the scene, Shelter to bring Transmat and Kompakt label producer Hiroshi Watanabe aka Kaito. Shanghai isn’t the only city we’ve brought excitements to, we’ve been to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Bankok and we’re going to Taipei and Ningbo. Throught out the first half of the year Say Yes toured around the entire country with Detroit’s genius Jimmy Edgar, Tresor’s resident Reka, one of first generations from Berghain, Panorama Bar and Ostgut label – Boris, Italian techno producer Marco Faraone, deep house/disco producer Downtown Party Network, Feldermelder & Encor’s well famed audio-visual live performance Erratic and the latest installation of ours, New York duo Teengirl Fantasy. Say Yes puts as much effort in raving as connection building. We’ve linked Berlin producer Philip Bader and Shanghai’s very own Misloop, and connected the local electronic scene and jazz scene.
这一年来,Say Yes想借此感谢所有支持过我们活动的朋友。是时候来好
We would like to take this chance to thank EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU GUYS WHO HAS SUPPORTED US. The thrill doesn’t stop just here. Bigger and bigger things are promised to you all lovely faces. Now let’s cut the birthday cake.
Don Williams is one of the most subversive artists of the Berlin techno scene. As a longtime friend of Dystopian, the solid label in Berlin, he joined them for many label tours, played alongside RØDHÅD any times, released many good productions there. His path of eastern German Techno-socialization began in the mid-nineties and led quickly from mere record collector up to producer and co-founder of the label Tokomak. It was here that in 1999 his first release appeared, followed by releases on Mark Broom’s Pure Plastic, as well as Rewired, Styrax and Styrax Leaves.
Don Williams是柏林techno业界最具颠覆性的艺
He founded his own label Mojuba in 2005. Since then it stands for elaborate and one-of-a-kind deephouse releases. His techno production fond an adequate home in 2006 with the formation of the label a.r.t.less. In 2008 followed the label wandering, which features many different styles. In his label catalogue, besides his personal releases, one can find artists such as Chez Damier, Ron Trent, Steve Rachmad, Mark Kinchen and many, many more. Being at home with many different styles of electronic music, as a DJ Don Williams stands for Detroit-style Technosound with just the right amount of historical awareness, internationally as well as on the home front at Panorama Bar, where since 2008 the Mojuba-labelnights are hosted. Currently Don Williams is working on numerous new projects, focusing mainly on his own productions and remixes as well as completing his debut album – always commemorating the legacy of house and techno.
