Momentum 10 Years of Token with Function Sigha Kr!z

Ampere
, Simonsstraat 21, 2018 Antwerp

Token, the Belgian techno label operated by Kr!z, will mark a decade in operation with a compilation of collaborations called Momentum (10 Years Of Token). Ampere is honored to be on the tour schedule for this special series of events.

Over the past ten years, Token has become one of techno’s most prominent labels. Momentum will feature just about all of its core artists, working in pairs. Inigo Kennedy, who helped launch the label in 2007 with the Identify Yourself 12-inch, is on board, along with Rødhåd, Sigha, Ø [Phase], Antigone, Tadeo, Ctrls, Oscar Mulero and Kr!z himself. Since Token’s launch, Kr!z has focused on DJing and running the label, and his two appearances here—one alongside Kennedy, the other with Ctrls—are described in press notes as “a first step… into releasing his own music.”

Momentum will be available in December on vinyl and digital

Token has also revealed tour dates for a series of label showcases across Europe for the coming months. Right now, 11 are on the schedule, featuring Ampere.

* FUNCTION (Ostgut Ton, infrastructure) U.S.

One of techno’s true underground heroes, Function has been DJing and making music for over 20 years. He is a founding member of the Sandwell District collective, Berghain resident, Ostgut recording artist and owner of Infrastructure New York.

ailing from New York, he was seduced by techno music when Jeff Mills held a residency (as well as his own) at the Limelight in the early 90s. Dave started to produce music and from the mid-90s onwards, put out music on Damon Wild’s Synewave and his own Infrastructure imprint.

Together with Karl O’Connor (aka Regis) he worked as Portion Reform, putting out uncompromising music on Downwards and becoming the only non-Birmingham producer to release on the label.

In late 2007 Dave moved to Berlin and, still working with O’Connor, set up the acclaimed Sandwell District imprint which soon developing a cult following and forcing the hand of change within electronic music – with 2010’s album, Feed Forward, being a particular highlight.

In 2013 he split from Sandwell District becoming a Berghain resident and Ostgut Ton recording artist, releasing the seminal album, Incubation.

* Sigha (Our Circula Sound, hotflush) U.K.

Sigha is the alias of London Based techno producer, James Shaw. He has released primarily on Hotflush Recordings, Blueprint Recordings his own imprint Our Circula Sound and been commissioned to provide remixes for a wide range of labels including CLR, Mikrowave, Metalheadz, Echocord, Steadfast and Sudden Drop amongst others.

* Kr!z (Token Records)

Kr!z always had a strong sympathy for the more gloomy, dark, rawer sound of techno. Artists like Jeff Mills, Surgeon & James Ruskin had a major influence on him in the 90ies. They helped to define his musical taste and develop his own identity in the techno scene. Kr!z still has a big love for hip-hop, which has left its mark in his technical DJ style: fast & tight mixing, properly dosed with cuts & scratches.

* FBQ (Ampere)

Support will be provided by FBQ, acronym for Far Beyond Quiet, one of our Ampere rising resident stars. Listen to his podcasts on our soundcloud to https://goo.gl/uEbuHc and let the sound speak for itself.
