Cutting-edge electronic music and groundbreaking visual arts inside the walls of the castle of Montemor-o-Velho, national heritage of Portugal.

FESTIVAL FORTE is a sound and visual experience, particular for its ability to merge contemporary electronic music with visual stimuli, creating a unique environment.
After two successful editions in 2014 and 2015, FESTIVAL FORTE has established itself as a landmark, presenting new trends in music and promoting a meaningful synergy between the audience and the physical setting of the festival. Relying on a careful selection of music and visual content, tailored specifically for each show, the concept of FESTIVAL FORTE reflects these convergences, creating a space that generates experimental dynamics between sound and image, enhancing the human ability to see and hear.

In 2016, FESTIVAL FORTE aims to consolidate its position as a cultural reference, defining new aesthetics and renewing its own language by creating an autonomous digital system that transforms itself using algorithms that are coded with random visual synthesis capabilities, based on Generative Art.

The opening show features BEN FROST & MFO that will take the AURORA project, released in 2015, and make a unique and exclusive adaptation for the castle walls, which will be transformed into a sort of particle accelerator. APPARAT, one third of Moderat, broadens the horizon with eclectic sounds and exclusive releases, where the overflowing emotions go way beyond music. BEN KLOCK, the king of the castle, returns in full splendor, shining the undeniable musical qualities that catapulted him to one of the highest positions in the sphere of leading DJs of the world.

DANIEL MILLER, member of the legendary THE NORMAL and founder of famed MUTE RECORDS, home to artists such as NEW ORDER, DEPECHE MODE, ERASURE, FAD GADGET, GOLDFRAPP, GRINDERMAN, MOBY, NITZER EBB, WIRE, PLASTIKMAN and YAZOO, will showcase the historical evolution of contemporary electronic music. HELENA HAUFF, one of the most prominent representatives of new trends cannot be cataloged given the diversity of genres in which she operates. From acid tones to inharmonious landscapes, the Hamburg artist echoes irregular vibrations. MARCEL DETTMANN from Berlin, mythical figure of the legendary Berghain, owner of MDR Records, will be invading the castle with powerful sounds of experimentalism and unexpected tones. MICHAEL MAYER returns after his historic ending set at Forte 2014. A founder of Kompakt, he will be responsible for the closure of the next edition dropping his most special and engaging tunes. RØDHÅD, deep, powerful and melancholic, returns to the Festival, with an organic journey through dub and techno. SEBASTIAN MULLAERT, one half of Minilogue, and ULF ERIKSSON, mentor of KONTRA MUSIC, will present their latest work “The Dance” that will overflow the Castle with eclectic and hypnotic sounds. The darker shades of contemporary techno lie in the hands of two American artists: cult figure SILENT SERVANT, who will debut his live performance in Portugal and TRUNCATE. SILENT SERVANT, a member of the demobilized SANDWELL DISTRICT project and currently a protagonist of HOSPITAL PRODUCTIONS, is one of the most uncompromising artists in the techno scene. TRUNCATE, aka AUDIO INJECTION, will be bringing the groove to the game right at the moment when it will be most needed.

The legendary CABARET VOLTAIRE present a new audiovisual show with
huge impact, displaying snippets of historical industrial electronic music that marked a generation. TRADE, formed by BLAWAN and SURGEON, appear live on very rare occasions. Festival FORTE is therefore a unique opportunity to be overwhelmed by the power of this duo that will be packed with their modular systems.

Festival FORTE also presents ANCIENT METHODS, APART, DAVID RODRIGUES DRUMCELL, KOBOSIL, MANU, RROSE, RUI VARGAS, SHCURO, VIL and VRIL, that will join the already confirmed APPARAT, BEN KLOCK, HELENA HAUFF, MARCEL DETTMANN, MICHAEL MAYER and RØDHÅD.
Festival FORTE is committed to the dissemination of cutting edge electronic music, in combination with new trends in contemporary culture, in conjunction with visual and performing arts. The Festival takes place in the Montemor-o-Velho Castle, national heritage of Portugal, and stands out for the relevance and quality of its content and the excellence of all the services available to the public

The general admission is sold at the price of 70€, in very limited quantities at BOL, FESTIVAL FORTE’s Facebook page and Sonicgoods.

The price of 75€ applies to participating outlets: FNAC, WORTEN and CTT.

The general ticket for FESTIVAL FORTE is valid for the whole 3 days of the Festival and includes free access to the campsite.

THE DAILY CAPACITY IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 5000 PEOPLE.
