On Thursday, April 13, 2017, we will to take you back to the dawn of a new era.

Berlin Jungle Headz will remember Radio Massive, a program hosted by BassDee and Thaddi. The legendary show aired between 1994-1998 on Kiss.FM 98.8, a former DJ radio station. Being one of the very few shows for this kind of music in Berlin at the time, it reflected and supported the buzzing party scene of the city, not only playing the latest tunes, but also acting as a community hub, offering a platform for local DJs and promoters.

DJ-sets by:

Felix K (Hidden Hawaii)
Curating and hosting the night, Radio Massive was a huge influence for Felix K, one of the earliest points of contact with Jungle and Drum & Bass in the 90s. He had his first tunes aired on Radio Massive in 1996. It was the sound from this show that led to his love for UK Jungle and to the foundation of his record label Hidden Hawaii in 1998.

BassDee (Radio Massive, Hidden Hawaii)
When it comes to DJ legends from Berlin, BassDee is right there among the top mentions. Beginning to play in 1991, he left his diverse and eclectic musical footprint on the best dancefloors all across town. He is a founding member of Hard:Edged, one of Berlin’s most influential party series, based out of the WMF club. As well as co-running Case Invaders, a record label for Drum & Bass with a unique sound signature, he co-founded Exponence, a series of events focusing on the deeper territories of Drum & Bass. BassDee recently joined the Hidden Hawaii crew and co-produced the critically acclaimed “Veteranenstraße EP“ together with Felix K.

Thaddeus Herrmann aka Thaddi (Radio Massive, Radio Fritz)
Not being interested in House and Techno, Thaddi started to experiment with Breakbeats in the early 90s and put out a couple of records under the “Sonic Subjunkies“ moniker, mainly on Alec Empire’s label “Digital Hardcore“ (DHR). Moving on quickly into other musical terrains, he co-hosted Radio Massive with BassDee while working for other radio stations and as editor of the Berlin-based De:Bug Magazine. he co-founded the record label “City Centre Offices“ and still runs the vinyl-only label “Just Another Beat“. Currently, he works in journalism, covering music, technology and other things with good beats. From 2010 to 2016, he did a bi-weekly radio show called “Nightflight“ on Radio Fritz with his co-host Heiko Hoffmann.
